Hey guys... I read a superb article somewhere about the condition of the music industry in India.. It was well written and made me think... Here are some thoughts from my side..
For music we as listeners are heavily addicted to Bollywood. We live in a country where a song's quality is inversely proportional to the length of the item girl's skirt.. Most of the casual music listeners i know would REFUSE to listen to any non-film music.. My question is why? Why aren't we evolving in our musical tastes? Blaming the listener wouldn't help.. If there isn't any decent pop/rock music to draw attention, why would anybody not listen to Bollywood songs?
I just want to ask everyone in this forum -
1. How do you think the condition of the industry can be improved?
2. Why do we have equivalents of a Brad Pitt in Bollywood but not of a Green Day or Linkin Park in music?
3. Should artists like SEL also contribute equally to the non-film music scene? I know SEL would sound awesome if the three of them form a rock band and record songs with full freedom, without pressure to make 'situational' songs for a movie... _________________ Hi..
